TTRPGs

Which games will be played?

Dungeons & Dragons is still the biggest and most popular TTRPG, and most tables at the festival will host D&D games. However, we love including other systems, with Game Masters giving introductions to Call of Chtulhu, The One Ring, Avatar Legends and others.

In 2024, Wizards of the Coast published a new version of their D&D 5th edition ruleset. For the games played at the festival, this means that at level 2, most sessions will use the 2024 version. For higher levels, the 2014 rules will generally be used, unless specifically stated otherwise.

How many games can I play with my ticket?

Your entrance ticket allows you to play 1 game session at 1 table during 1 of the 3 time slots. You can browse the games beforehand here, but seats are first-come, first-served based on availability—so be sure to arrive on time. If you’re open to surprises, you can also find an open spot on the day itself. We recommend choosing a game that suits your skill level for the best experience!

Can I create my own character?

For most TTRPGs, the GM will provide pre-generated entry-level characters. If you’re familiar with the game, you can bring your own character, but it must be approved by the GM at the start of the session.

For D&D, we will also provide pre-generated characters. Alternatively, you can create your character using official rules*, starting at level 2, 8, or 14—just ensure it fits the level. Only official content is allowed, with optional rules (like Tasha’s) being acceptable. Use the standard array or point buy for your stats, and both multiclassing and feats are permitted. At level 2, use starting gear; at higher levels, you can equip any non-magical armor and weapons.

* In 2024, Wizards of the Coast published a new version of their D&D 5th edition ruleset. For the games played at the festival, this means that at level 2, most sessions will use the 2024 version. You can choose with which ruleset you create your character. For higher levels, you can only create a character according to 2014 rules.

From what age can I join a session?

The festival is aimed at a mature audience as some games have a horror or adult theme. We do not recommend joining under the age of 15.

However, we have a few introductory TTRPG sessions for children aged 8-14. Seats for these are limited, but you can apply for registration by sending us an email at dm@dayofdungeons.be. Please include the age of the child you are registering.

We do not offer activities for children younger than 8 years old.

I’ve never played before, can I join?

Absolutely, we will guide you! There will be beginner tables, where the game will be explained and where you’ll be able to learn by playing. For D&D sessions, you need to play at level 2. For other TTRPGs, all sessions will focus on learning the game.
